Lifesaving nutrition interventions in Nsanje have received a boost following a donation of medical supplies to the District Health Office.
Jofilisi Jofilisi Executive Director for a local NGO, Chididi Health For All Foundation (CHAFO) presented the in kind donation to Nsanje District Health Office on Friday this week.
"There are some gaps that prompted us to chip in as statistics show that every year 16 percent of under five children are admitted to the district hospital due to severe malnutrition a development which is worrisome," said Jofilisi.
Arafat Falitchala Assistant Environmental Health Officer for Nsanje District Health Office described the donation as timely saying it serves as a boost to various interventions aimed at scaling up nutrition in the district.
Atleast 29,890 under five children and pregnant women are expected to benefit from the 15.5 million Kwacha worth nutrition supplements supplies sourced from international medical organisation, Vitamin Angels.
